CHAPTER #3

Judicial Procedure

The establishment of the Tribal Court is outlined in Art. XXII of the Tribe’s Constitution. The judicial power of the Tribe shall be vested in such courts as the General Council may establish from time to time. The General Council may elect to enter into a contractual agreement to participate in an inter-tribal court system to provide judicial services to the Tribe, its members, and others subject to tribal jurisdiction.

The Tribe has authorized a contractual agreement to participate in an inter-tribal court system through the services of the Intertribal Court of Southern California (ICSC). Therefore, unless specifically detailed in the Tribe’s ordinances within this Chapter, the ICSC Code of Civil Procedure and Rules of the Court will govern judicial procedure within the jurisdiction of the Tribe.
